South Road Cricket Club

Message from the A Grade Captain

Roadies,

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable off season and is looking forward to Cricket starting again shortly.

Last season when I took up the A Grade Captaincy my aim was to have people enjoying their cricket again and stabilising the club after the Club was relegated to Section 3.  I believe we achieved this goal last year and although we only had a handful of wins we remained competitive all season and had a lot of fun along the way.

The upcoming season allows us as a Club and Individuals to reset our Goals.  For me as A Grade Captain this is quite simple, it’s time to start the journey of getting this proud Club back to Section 1 where it belongs.  That starts this year with promotion to Section 2 at Season’s end the only acceptable result.

Last season there was no expectations from myself or the Club around attendance at Training.  Our results reflected our training habits.

With the return of some former players, the continual development of existing juniors and the enticement of playing our home games on Turf, I’m expecting competition to be fierce for spots in the A Grade this season.  To give yourself the best opportunity of being part of what I believe can be a memorable season I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible out at Training commencing at the Cage next Sunday 26th August at 11am.

Roadhouse!
