Play suspended – COVID Update from the President

Hi All,

In line with SA Gov restrictions all cricket and event participation has been cancelled as of midnight last night (17 November 2020). This includes all games, training and events.

I have discussed with Fern and all our bookings for the two week period are now cancelled and will be reviewed in line with any updated government restriction advice.

I apologise for the inconvenience, however as a community club we are bound by the SA Gov community guidelines. As President it is my duty to ensure, as much as practical, the safety of all those involved with the club and any new people we are introducing to our club and facility.

I understand the current outbreak has caused disappointment with training, games and event cancellations, however I ask everyone to understand how community transmissible this virus is. In the first wave SA reacted outstandingly and therefore, compared to many other states and most countries, have enjoyed greater freedom and “normal lives” requiring only a few weeks of lockdown, with this hopefully once in a lifetime virus.

Again, I understand your disappointment, however please comprehend the bigger picture. We will keep you updated here as we progress through this new second wave of restrictions.

Yours in sport,
Lionel Markwort
President
South Road Cricket Club

The 2020-21 season is set to start on Saturday 10th October

CONFIRMED: SRCC 80th AGM and Presentation Night

Hi Roadies,

This is to confirm the date of Friday, 28th August for our Season 2019-20 Awards Night and 80th AGM, at the Edwardstown Oval Club, Community Room. Please be there at 6:30pm.

A big thankyou to the 23 people who’ve indicated that they will be attending the night so far, with 2 maybes. Due to COVID restrictions we have a maximum of 59 people able to attend, so please let us know ASAP whether you will be coming along by emailing, SMSing or calling any of the contacts below. You can also click on this link and fill out the form to register your attendance

Please note that the situation with COVID-19 is continually changing. We will notify you of any changes to plans for the night as they arise.

Helping SRCC Move Forward

Positions in the executive and committee will become vacant at the AGM. To run a thriving club, we need many people with a range of skills to help organising such things as:

  • General governance of the club through the SRCC committee (oversee the running and finances of the club)
  • Cricket Operations (coaching, captains, training, recruitment, equipment)
  • Events (social events, fundraisers, BBQs)
  • Communications (advertising, Facebook, email, website, Road Rage)
  • Sponsorship & Grants

If you believe you can contribute to the club and would like to add your voice and opinion to help steer SRCC going forward, we encourage you to think about fulfilling positions within the executive, general committee or sub-committees (Women’s Cricket, Junior Cricket, Events, etc.) for the coming season. Your efforts for the club will enable it to keep running and indeed to help us all grow into the future.

If you’d like more information on positions or want to contribute but aren’t sure of how, feel free to contact us via the details below, or talk to a committee member.

2020-21 Season Start Announcement

Hi Roadies,

We hope you’re keeping safe and well and have been enjoying your off-season. We also hope you’re ready for a new season of cricket at SRCC!

ASCA (our cricketing overlords) have recently let us know their intentions to run a full season of cricket this year:

“Our hope is to start on Saturday October 10th and this will allow us the 23 weekends required to fit in a 7+7 season and two weeks of finals.”

This season is not set in stone yet and is subject to change depending on various circumstances such as COVID-19, however we have a goal to work towards.

As a part of setting up the season, ASCA is looking to determine the number of teams playing for each club. To determine team numbers for SRCC, we need to know your intentions to play this year. Please click the button below and fill out the form to register your interest in playing this season, or contact us via the details below.
